Summary: WD and only WD for my machines.
Comment: Perfect upgrade for my Compaq Presario notebook.
I've been in IT for 9 years now, and I've learned many useful lessons: nothing dies on the internet, don't use your CD-Rom tray as a cupholder, and nothing important ever transpires over email.
Most importantly, I've learned that there is only one brand of hard drive I can trust: Western Digital.
I've owned / replaced dozens of hard drives over the last decade, and only 1 was a WD. It was well within the warranty period, so I called WD and the replacement was in my hands in 2 days with return postage included for the dead drive. Manufacturing errors do happen, but *how* the company handles the problem is more important than the problem itself in my business.
That being said, there are 2 types of computer users: those who back up, and those who don't. For both of you, I recommend Western Digital drives. It's not even worth talking about price - these drives are simply the best.
