Summary: It Works Well
Comment: This unit started right up after automatically loading the drivers. It is very fast and handled my 4 GB & 8GB SDHC cards without any issues. I like that it uses a standard USB cable so that I can just plug it in to the same cable I use for my pda when the PDA is not plugged in.

Summary: Small, but powerful
Comment: I bought this in order to simplify dealing w/ multiple cameras. Unfortunately, my Sony camera was dropped & broken a few days later, so I haven't been able to see the sony mem stick capabilities. But the support for other cards is solid.

Takes a little getting used to, because it takes up 5 device letters (f:, g:, h:, i:, and j: for me), but windows keeps that fairly intuitive by popping up the correct drive when you put a card in one of the 5 slots. And I love, love, love not having to eject the dang device every time.

Download speed seems comparable to downloading directly from the camera, and it's also easy to use it to copy things onto an SD card for digital picture frames or the like.

Smaller than I expected it to be, too, which is a small plus.

Summary: Amazingly Fast Photo Uploads, Incredibly Low Price
Comment: I'm not a "techie" person, so I didn't really understand the point of having a card reader since my camera will transfer photos onto my computer for free. Well, now I'm wondering why I EVER messed around with hooking up a cable (which I can't find 1/2 the time) from my camera and hacking around with the buggy out-of-date software that ships with the camera, when all this time I could have plugged this handy little device straight into my laptop's USB port and been enjoying my photos in less than a minute (compared with the hours it sometimes takes to download them from my camera--an old Canon Powershot 800).

The Transcend Multi-Card Reader allows you to take just about any relatively new memory card and download its contents straight onto your computer. No special software needed! This is a great feature when you are vacationing with a bunch of people who all have different cameras, and you want to consolidate the photos on one computer. The card reader functions like a mini-hard drive, so that you can view the contents of the memory card and only download the specific images you want onto your computer (unlike my camera, which would chug through and download all 300 images on the card just to get to the last 10 photos I snapped).

Other reviewers are not exaggerating--the Transcend Multi-Card Reader is small, fast, inexpensive, well-designed, and in my humble "regular person" opinion--indispensable. When my other non-techie friends saw how great mine was, they ran out and ordered one from Amazon!

Note for Mac users: I've used the Transcend Multi-Card Reader on both my trusty old G4 Powerbook (running Tiger OS and iPhoto '07) and my new MacBook Pro (running Leopard OS and iPhoto '08), with equal success. It's particularly useful on the old G4 machine, which only has a 40 GB hard drive, so I don't want to clog it up with hundreds of photos. With the card reader, I could transfer photos straight onto my auxiliary hard drive, or upload them directly onto Snapfish without clogging up my G4's already overburdened hard drive. Also, I purchased the Transcend 8 GB memory card, which is a great value too -- see link. Transcend 8 GB SDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card TS8GSDHC6

Summary: Great for the price
Comment: I bought this reader so I could upload and edit pictures for my digital picture frame. It worked great. It's going to come in handy because my cameras have different card types and it has multiple slots. It comes in handy to take with to my family so I can download pictures before I leave.

Summary: Love it.
Comment: This is my fourth card reader, and my favorite. It's faster than the other ones, the smallest, and the cable is replaceable.

My only wish is that its USB cable were retractable/foldable into the unit, as my past card readers were. Not a big deal.
